Guidelines for New Member Submissions to Bar Briefs
Submissions announcing/welcoming New Members will only be printed if they contain the following, and reach us by 15 days before the first of the month of issue:
a. Full professional name [required]; go-by name [optional]
b. Statement of what you are doing professionally: options: (i) joining firm or entity X as a ____[associate/partner/other title], (ii) starting the firm of Y, (iii) seeking employment, or (iv) self-drafted statement that is subject to our final editorial approval
c. Either your last residence or last employment, or both [expressed as town or judicial district, and/or firm]
d. Marketing information is not permitted, but a phrase about your practice area or specialty is permitted. The distinction is in our sole discretion. Please create a Member Profile on our website, www.ashevillebuncombelaw.net, where we provide ample opportunity to showcase more information about your practice.
Acceptable examples:
Jane Sanders Doe is a new member of the 28th JDB. She joins the firm of Smith Jones as a partner after a tenure with Powell and Howell in Raleigh.
Tharrington A. "Trey" Deberry III is a new member of the 28th JDB. He is a 2008 UNC Law graduate who just passed the bar and is seeking employment in Asheville.
Sally Smith Adams and Mark Barnard Adams are new members of the 28th JDB. They are newly married and come here from a clerkship with Judge Duncan of the Fourth Circuit and the post of General Counsel with Ford Motor Company, respectively. They have formed the firm of Adams and Adams, which will specialize in immigration and international human rights.
